Our 1.5 Qashqai now has a slipping clutch and noticeable oil leak from the gearbox ( I think ). What would be causing the oil leak and will this be why the clutch is slipping. Wife is going to kill me if I've bought another dodgy car

They are probably unrelated. But if the clutch has gone its going to cost you a packet :(

Really  ...................................I would think that the 2 issues are very related as in, oil leaking onto the clutch plate causing it to slip.

I agree with switchback, I think the main crank shaft seal could be leaking, this has then contaminated the clutch. Sorry it's not any better news.

Ah cost will all be down to you then; try finding some local independents for quotes or clutch specialists.

Thanks, would the flywheel need doing at the same time or would you get away with just the clutch. Just got a price off a clutch centre and they said both would need doing. :(

I would have thought it would be a DMF, so it would be highly advisable to do it at the same time!
