New to this forum - hopefully somebody can help me with a problem I am experiencing on my 2015 1.5dci Tekna Qashqai.

I am getting a vibration / buzzing noise on deceleration. Seems to be coming from the back of the engine bay on the passenger side.

Noise seems to be worse when slowing down to a halt say on a downhill junction. Noise occurs most when braking, but I have noticed it occasionally even when decelerating / changing to a low gear and not braking.

Car has done 18,000 miles and was serviced recently.

Has anybody had similar problems / got any ideas what it might be.

Thanks

Could be as simple as the air cleaner housing rattle/zizz that is fairly common. Cured mine permanently by breaking the securing tab clean off.

Just a quick update - Quacker was correct regarding the air cleaner housing - Thanks!

I tried cable ties to hold the housing , but it still rattled. I didn't really want to break the tab off - instead I managed to stop it rattling by wedging some plastic strips (actually offcuts from cable ties) in the joint of the air cleaner.

This seems to have done the trick & my QQ now sounds like a completely different car!

I may possibly try a self adhesive foam strip from a draught excluder inside the joint as a more permanent solution.

I stopped it with self adhesive Velcro .

have you checked the alternator pulley?they can break apart on the 1.5dci engines and if the belt falls off and wraps around your crankshaft pulley you're in for a head off job

This is obviously a design fault. Why’ is it not addressed by Nissan in a standard Nissan service?

It is addressed. They cable tie it or put screws into it. That's Nissan for you. Cheap as chips fix, or is that bodge!!!

Cable ties on mine. Asked when I bought the car, from a Nissan dealership, what's that bodge about ? That's how we fix them, I was told. Didn't believe him, so he showed me 3 other Qashqai on the forecourt all with the same bodge.
