Have a look at the next post about DPF problems. The engine speed increasing could be due to a DPF regen.

Turns out it's the turbo let it creep along, the dealer did not even know it could it. All the staff tried their cars and found it did it (petrol and diesel). As for it picking up speed they or Nissan have no idea but the car has not done it again so we will wait and see on that one.
