Why do you need a battery guard? Why dont you use the 12v socket in the centre console?

As gvmdaddy questioned why do you need to mess with this, this I believe is what he is speaking about. The 12v you are talking about sucks energy with the engine OFF and there is a Glove Box Socket - Dave ;)

Do you mean install a fuse into the circuit , what is a battery guard ?? surely it is already fused on the main board

No idea why you want to get behind the 12v socket instead of accessing the fusebox, but: -

Wiring to socket is exposed when the centre console is removed (LHD dash shown here).

A battery guard sits inline between the battery and a power outlet. If an accessory is drawing a constant power supply with the ignition switched off and the battery voltage drops below a certain level then the battery guard shuts the circuit down to preserve the battery.
I can see the idea behind it, but not when a simpler solution has already been included in the vehicle with the 12v socket in the centre console inside the armrest.

Why not just use a plug-in one?
