This thread seems to be drifting off original subject!

I started this thread a year ago & had all caps and both roof rails, as was the procedure in 2015.
Unfortunately one of the 4 end caps now has the same old crazing problem; has lasted under a year.

Seems they haven't isolated the problem/ amended he spec for these ........

For those getting end caps only replaced, just check that its the right shade of silver! Mine are quite different under some light conditions!

Not sure how. As far as I can see, every post has a reference of some kind to the roof rail issue.

Got my car back today and it's got to go back on the 25th may due to the fact that Nissan can't supply the dealer with any end caps until the 23rd may.

Shame: this needs to be on shelf of every Nissan dealer.

Gel, absolutely correct, but unfortunately we are now living in the "Just in Time" age (if the parts are available) and delivered in most cases in around the 24 hours. The other reason is parts "In Stock", does the Dealer have this on his inventory / cost or does Nissan foot the bill for the parts whilst they sit there. IMHO some bright spark at Nissan should have picked up this fault by now and recommended to correct the Suppliers Manufacturing / Quality Process to keep the customers happy and the Nissan costs down - Dave ;)

At least dealer won't be able to say this time "I've never seen that before, bla bla".
Just one of the 4 is showing the fault I had on all 4 a year ago.

64 plate ink blue 1.5dci Tekna I have had similar marks since I bought this car last year. It was 4 months old and owned by a main Nissan dealership. Obviously this is an anodising fault at the factory, and as such Nissan should replace them. That's what i'll be asking for when the car goes in for servicing on the Nissan service plan

The end caps, as opposed to the actual rails are plastic, so probably not anodising?
Something in preparation of the material prior to spraying or some paint incompatibility.

Just got back from Washing the QQ and checked again the End Caps and they still look OK. I spoke with the Store Guy at our Dealer and asked about the End Caps and he :D . Apparently now more customers are picking Up this "Crazing" problem and as previously mentioned, now only the End Caps are being exchanged. The Parts still seem to be un-modified and the Nos if needed are #738A84EA0A / 1A / 2A / 3A and the Nissan price is €22,83 + 19% Tax = €27,17. Incidently there appears to be a order Back Log - Parts are not available at present. Hope this helps - Dave ;)
