New Technology
0-100 in 1.2 isn't actually that bad... there are roller coaster that almost get to that speed..Now, when you compare it to the fastest accelerating launch based roller coaster Stealth at thorp park which launches the general public (read: not as healthy as astronauts and no special flight suites...) 0-80 in 1.8 seconds.... Tell you what, that sort of acceleration is quite an experience!
In fact, top fuel drag cars are probably worse than this! 300mph in ~4.5 seconds! 0-100 in < 1 second... 0-200 in ~2.2seconds and up to 300mph by 4.5seconds!
Starting to feel a little queezy at the thought of it!
As interesting as I find all this tech, going around a big roundabout in my 1.2 Tekna is about my limit!

Just an Update - Local Motors aims to
Produce a 3D-Printed Car in 2016.This unusual auto manufacturer specializes in collaborative open source design,
microfactories and 3D printing. We took note when the company kicked off 2015
by hooking up with the US Energy Department for a new lightweight design
challenge. What we didn't note was this other challenge launched by Local
Motors, which could put you behind the wheel of a fully customized 3D printed
car some time next year. The question is what will be produced in the proposed
Berlin Factory a€“ Dave

A significant number of the Bloodhound components have been fabricated using 3D printing techniques and this includes even the steering wheel. Over 3,500 custom-made parts were made and it would have been very expensive and wasteful for the Bloodhound project to use traditional batch production in many instances. The complex design of the car also demands shapes that are difficult - sometimes impossible - to make using traditional tooling. The result has been that the car's designers were always going to make good use of "additive manufacturing" such as 3D Printing - Dave

Although it is called a 3D Printed SuperCar I think this is open to discussion but it just again shows what is around and being developed by small companies - Dave
The “Blade” is light, sleek and — at an acceleration of 0-60 m.p.h. in 2.2 seconds — incredibly fast, just like you’d want any supercar to be. But a few things set this wondrous machine apart from others of its kind, foremost among them its method of manufacture. The car made by San Francisco–based startup Divergent Microfactories, has a chassis created entirely using a 3-D printer. The 3-D printing reduces the overall weight of the car by 90% and the manufacturer claims, coupled with the use of carbon fiber for most of the car’s body rather than steel or aluminum. As a result, the whole vehicle weighs just under 1,400 lb.
The “Blade” has a 700HP engine that can run on compressed natural gas, thereby also making it one of the most environment-friendly automobiles around. The company will produce a certain number of cars initially, but eventually plans to sell its technology to smaller manufacturers to make their own vehicles.

This Business is getting well established now and as Airbus are now a big user of this Technology they have come out with an Electric Motor Cycle - Light Rider claimed to be the first 3D Electric Bike - Dave
