Had another quick look through the front grill earlier and it looks like there may be something like this in place. Had a look with engine off then on at about 8£C...grill was completely open....it may be that it only operates at either even lower temperatures, or when the vehicle is moving. Ill look into it a little more over the coming days.

If I remember well, grill shuts off if speed reach 35km/h up to 130km/h. Higher speed than 130km/h opens it again.

Just to add some confusion:

Was looking through the forums today and was considering the zunsport grille but though i'd take a look at my Qashqai first. It seems I have the active louvre fitted but my Qashqai is a 65 plate 1.6 dig-t petrol so it seems the louvres are not just fitted to diesel versions. Perhaps it is now fitted to all Qashqais or the diesel and 1.6 petrols.....

Anyway, for those that are considering the Zunsport grille, I found a 15% discount code on a forum for a different vehicle, just search 'zunsport discount code'. It works as I got as far as adding the grille to basket and applying the code before deciding to check my car.

Hi, what Russian supplier did you use? With the roads in such poor condition nowadays, I think this grill is a must.

I've finally got round to fitting my grille. Firstly here's what it looks like before:

Image

I was surprised when I looked how vulnerable the radiator appears to be:

Image

I bought some plastic mesh on eBay - "Universal Honeycomb Black Plastic vent car tuning racing Grill Mesh 40x100 cm" - which turned out to be a 1200x400mm piece that they'd cut the end off but still included - presumably because it's cheaper sending a 1000mm long parcel! I'm sure I paid £16.95 delivered - it's gone up somewhat since I got mine several months ago:

Image

It has a pattern which, although different, coordinates well with the upper grille design - though once it's fitted you can hardly see it anyway:

Image

I fitted it down through the top - looked to be easier than taking the undertray off - this is after removing the top plastic trim:

Image

I carefully measured and found I needed 800x160mm:

Image

I used a Goscut to cut it:

Here it is fitted - you can hardly see it!:

... and this shows how it's held in place, with plastic cable ties. I used six though might put another four in if I feel it's necessary:

There's enough left over to do another car!
