I'm wondering if someone can provide any assistance or guidance on the issue I'm having with my QQ Tekna. I bought the car brand new in September 2015 and hit a pothole in late October, down the passenger side. I wasn't travelling over 25mph but the pothole was big enough to damage both rims on the passenger side.

The car went back to the dealer for new rims and tyres, and here is where the problem started. Firstly the car was pulling to the right when the new tyres and rims were on the front. WIth the new tyres on the rear, the car pulls to the left. The car has been tracked several times by the dealer, their tracking sheet showed the right rear had a very slight toe in, which they compensated for by toeing out the right front to try and make the vehicle drive straight.

I had the vehicle checked by an independant specialist using the Hunter Hawker system, who confirmed the right rear toe-in issue. The dealer is adamant rear toe cannot be corrected due to the fixed rear axle - apparently the way to fix is toe in/out the front so the vehicle drives straight. With the right front toed-out the streering feelings very strange, especially on left lock.

Currently the vehicle is pulling to the left as the tracking is set per the Hawker system. Does anyone know if the only way to correct this is to toe out the front? The dealer said tracking can only be done by Nissan as 'they have the knowledge of the vehicle and no one else does'. Seems ludicrous that I can only ever go to Nissan to get the tracking done! I'm not afraid of having to change the rear axle if it comes to that, just wish Nissan would be more helpful. Thanks.

Absolute 'tosh'. Any reputable garage can adjust the tracking on a vehicle. Just a thought though, how come you managed to damage both front and rear rims if you were doing less tgan 25mph? Dont want to seem rude, but were your eyes shut? It must have been one hell of a pot hole!

Not at all! I've attached a photo of the pothole, I'm not sure it really does it justice, it was very deep.

I'm not really sure how to go about getting this fixed, how do I fix a rear toe problem?

The exact same thing happened to me in a skoda Fabia vrs I once owned ( wish I'd never sold it )
Burst both near side tyres and put flat spots on the rims, amazingly it didn't effect the tracking though, maybe the skoda was made of better stuff?
Like gvmdaddy says any reputable dealer should be able to diagnose this in no time, unless a suspension/steering component has been damaged? This might not get picked up on with just a wheel alignment check, depends on how good the technician is I suppose, they aren't all good.
I once had to tell a "technician" that the wheel studs had to be turned anti-clockwise to be removed! No joke!
Hence take it to someone reputable.
Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for the reply. Can anyone recommend a decent garage where I can get the car looked at? I'm based in NW London but happy to travel to someone I know will diagnose the problem.

I have used Hounslow Tyres a number of times in the past, and always been happy. Their site looks a bit of a state, but don't let that put you off - they are really good, and will actually talk to you about what you need/want, and what they have found.

Depending on where you are in NW London, I could probably direct you in if you don't know the area?
