Since I moved to Berlin in 90 and we do get snow / ice (very cold) and rain as in the UK but I have always used Ally Valve Caps and never had a seizing problem but Ally does corrode if not lubricated. I also have these fitted on our Winter Wheels. As previously mentioned the trick is to use minimal grease and do not over tighten just enough for the "O Ring" to squash a little. I also normally double check when giving the Alloys a good clean and regrease. As mentioned with the TPMS Valves on the QQ mistakes / seizing can cost a fortune - Dave ;)

Just use the plastic kind. I used some metal ones without grease and getting them off practically stripped the thread.
BE WARNED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had the same on other cars I have owned, total pain in the A*S, plastic is cheap & much easier to remove. In fact, sometimes it removes itself :)

Well the inevitable happened, following my previous post and the advice of the tyre fitter, I had a warning pop up that there was low pressure in my near side front tyre, yes the one that had the seized alloy dust cap.
With much trepidation I went off to my local nissan dealer Nissan Wirral and explained the problem, they said that they would try to release the cap but if not then a new TPMS would be required .
Expecting the worse, and a relieving of many fine British pounds from my wallet I returned to the dealers later in the day, imagine my sheer delight when not only had they managed to get the valve off and reset the TPMS warnings but they didn't charge me a single penny, I know that main dealers ,have in general a poor reputation, but on this occasion I cannot praise Nissan Wirral enough, well done !!!
