HiI'm buying the 2014 Qashqai, which comes with 19" alloys with very tyre size 225 45R 19W. The normal tyres are shockingly expensive to replace but that's besides the point. I actually want to invest in a Winter set but can't find any that match this size.Should I look at getting a cheap set of different size wheel hubs online plus a set of temporary reasonably priced winter tyres on the car? If so, what size should I get for this type of car so it's affordable?CheersNick

Hi Nick!Congratulations on your purchase! All allowable dimensions written on the label on the body by the driver's door. In winter, the smaller diameter of the disc wheel better.Have a nice road!Vova

Mine has the 18 wheels. 215 / 55 R18 95H or V and I chose Mud n Snow tyres -Toyo Open Country (think theres an A12 in there as well maybe). Anyway properly rated Mud n Snow and about 120 quid a corner. But hard to get. I used wwww.mytyres.co.uk just google mytyres and they delivered for free. Then all you need is a spare set of 18 inch wheels - try eBay.
Hope that helps.

How do the 18's run? I've got a new Qashqai Tekna with the 19's but still have loads of tread left on my winter tyres from my 2012 Qasqai (215/55 R18) so I'm thinking of just buying some 18 inch wheels for the winter, probably a lot cheaper than winter tyres for the new wheels and it'll save paying to have them changed twice a year.

That seems the sensible route to me but Berlin Dave is probably the best man to answer this, hope he sees it, if not you can always catch him with a 'private' email.

n_s_simpson, I have a similiar problem with our Tekna when we eventually get it. I was at a Tyre Dealer last week and obtained a cost for a set of 19" Platin P70 Alloys + Bridgestone 225 / 45 R19 Winter Tyres (Overall Dia 27"). The cost of the Alloys was a‚¬164 and the Tyres a‚¬215 Total was with Fitting a‚¬1587 + new Valves for the TPMS System.
Our discussion with our Dealer has resulted in his recommendation of Fitting 16" Steel Wheels & Tyres which I believe will be 215 / 65's ( Overall Dia will be 27") for the Winter. Here in Germany the Tyres & Wheels have to have an ABE which is a Type Approval and at present it is difficult to find many Wheels or Tyres which fit the QQ J11 with this Approval without it they cannot be fitted.

drivers8, at present on the new QQ only 16" / 17" / 19" Wheels are fitted. I would think that the 215 / 55 / 18 would be OK but I would Double Check with a Tyre Dealer. If you still have the 18" Wheels these should fit the new QQ as the Wheel Pitch is a Std for 5 Lugs at 114,3 Dia with a 66,1 middle bore.
I hope this is of some assistance - Dave

drivers8, I have just calculated the Total Outside Dia of the 18" Wheel with the 215 / 55 Tyres and this will be 27,31" which is slightly (0,31") bigger than with the Std Tekna 19" Wheels & Tyres - Dave

Hi Driver8,Just to add to DaveBerlin's comment....Dave was spot on with his 27.31 inch calculation for the 215/55/18 wheel tyre combination. For information, and by the same formula...the QQ14MY Acenta 17 inch wheel...as offered by Nissan with a 215/60 tyre...gives 27.16 inch overall diameter....which is also slightly larger than the nominal 27 inch diameter (from the 19 inch rim) with the Tekna 225/45 tyre. Therefore the 18 inch wheel tyre combination may still work as it is only 1.15 % larger diameter that the 19 inch Tekna wheel. The standard option 17 inch wheel is 0.6 % larger diameter anyway. As speedo calibrations are to up to + 10% I can not see a problem? (but may be overlooking something?).

how do the TPMS valves work? I know I have to purchase another set for my 17' wheels (for winter set of wheels). Then speaking about swapping wheels during the season, is it anyhow different or hard? On my current car I do not have this kind of feature and since I have separate wheels with tires, I am swapping them by my own in my garage with hydraulic jack. I am thinking whether this can be done with the new car or I will have to bring the car to professional tire service.
