I think that even though the rim is 16" the tyre diameter will make up for it so will be the same as a 19" Tekna wheel/tyre. I hope this is right, maybe others can confirm?

Yep, the rolling radius of teh 19" Tekna wheel will (off the top of my head without doing the sums) be very similar to the rolling radius of the 16" spacesaver, in fact I don't think either will be that different from an Acenta 17" wheel. Bigger dia wheels + lower profile tyres = very similar rolling radii, or at least close enough for the purposes of getting you home on a spacesaver!

With regard to the Wheel / Tyre Diameter try this Sizing your Tyres a€“ A Bit of Maths Here we Go - Dave :
Tekna 225/45/19 :
Multiply the width by the Aspect Ratio expressed as a decimal
225 x 0,45 = 101,25
Convert the Aspect Height to inches. 101,25 / 25,4 = 3,98
Multiply the Aspect Height by 2. 3,98 x 2 = 7,96
Add the Inside Diameter of the Tyre. 19 + 7,96 = 26,96
Space Saver 145/90/16 :
145 x 0,90 = 130,5
130,5 / 25,4 = 5,13
5,13 x 2 = 10,26
16 + 10,26 = 26,26
The difference on Dia is only 0,7"

Do you know if the old QQ spacesaver will fit in the new J11? Found one for sale on ebay from a scrapyard from an older QQ.

Amsky999, if you take a look at the Document I added in this Topic on the 10th May it actually states for "J10 / J11" QQ's so you should be OK.
If you Look in the Glyn Hopkin Website you will find the same data : Space Saver Wheel Rim Only #40300JD077 and Space Saver Tyre #CST17QQ both for J10 / J11 - take a Look Dave

How much boot space do you lose when putting the spare underneath? We are off to france in the summer, and don't feel happy without a spare. Was thinking of getting one without the foam, and putting stuff around the wheel (kites, picnic blankets etc).On the bright side it looks like you can sell them on again for pretty much what you buy them for if you change cars...

Are you talking full size spare, or space saver?

I think I recall it intruding into the lower section by and inch or 2. It does not remove all of the space like a full size does, but does take up some room. There is a lengthy thread about it knocking around, the FAQ lacks this detail. However you need to take into consideration that if you douse your space saver due to a flat, you need to load your full size into that space to transport it so if your boot is already full, including the lower section you could become unstuck. I think this is why some people have decided to go for full size wheels as spares and just loose all the lower section (that, and they didn't trust space savers or preferred a full size for going abroad/long distance to remove the limitations that space savers )bring...)

mmm, I see what you mean.the car is 2 months old currently - and on lease. so have pan-european recovery. I don't see the point of a full size spare, but would rather have the limitations of a space saver than the limitations of a can of goo.The only time I really need the peace of mind of a spare is when we head off to find a viewpoint in the Pyrenees which is a bit off the main roads. I had kind of put having somewhere to store the full size if we have to, to the back of my mind. we won't be completely packed out as we are going to have a roof box so we can always shuffle some stuff around if it happens on the way there or back.
