Did hear a rumour about this here on forumI ordered a towbar fitted from new back in April and was pissed off a little that the Witter towbar was fitted at Nissan by an external company but when car was returned had it removedSo whats the real story as its towcar of the year but the car cannot tow anything legaly?Im about to flog it off on forum after have over £500 tied up in this thing but cant give it away if it may cause someone else serious problemsWhy havent Nissan informed me as they aware one fitted that theres a problem and what is the problem anyone know?http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/ni ... on=goodIve not collected it yet from Dealers and feel like finaly using the towbar in a manner that will at least make me smileIf they ilegal or dangerous then why havent they informed us? ive towed with mine and as far as I was aware it was both legal and safe to do so

It is common practice for dealers to use external specialists to fit tow bars. It is rather odd that a tow car of the year hasn't yet been allowed to tow. Perhaps it is an issue with the type approval of the tow bar but it could equally be an issue with attachment points or chassis of the car. Either or which way, if you have paid for a tow bar that cannot legally be used, you should get your money back. It's that simple, even if you sell the car as long as the original dealer gets the tow bar back. You will not find something less 'fit for purpose' than that. You could argue that the whole car was not fit for purpose if you bought it specifically to tow a trailer.

In my case my car has been returned but im shocked Nissan havent informed me that I cant tow and I read it elsewhereIve towed with it (took a motorcycle trailer down to Southern Spain as it goes) so im just confusedAll towbars nowadays are fitted to chassis points its no longer drill and nut n bolt things with large washers so are Nissan saying the cars chassis isnt up to it? because a towbar thats designed fitted in correct place is obviously not the problemTheres a few of us who ordered towbars at build who had them fitted once delivered to dealers and again how incredible the QQ was SUV of the year a month before they were even built and towcar of the year despite bieng allowed to towProof these car of the year awards are bought

Off topic, but I am also sceptical about these award things. The main problem I have is that couple of years later those same reviewers seem to have forgotten about their "car of the year" awards and have no problems blasting that particular car as not being that great anymore.
