I looked closely at mine this morning and on two wheels there did seem to be a little movement outward where the joining clip sits (around 2-3mm) I will keep my eye on this and would not be surprised if the massive potholes I kept hitting in the North Yorks. country lanes has probably caused this. Toffeeggs, did you notice any damage to the wheel rim outer where the gaytor has been seated ? and had the stainless clips done anything to the rim inner ? Keep us informed of the outcome....Jon

Yes please let us know how you get on and if any damage to wheels with the Alloygators.I am waiting for car and after reading about how easily the rims can be damaged I was going to put on the Alloygators, only to be put off by what the manufacture says about fitting to diamond cut alloys, then as time goes on and reports of damage and cost to repair, changed direction again so intend to fit them----unless they are causing more damage than risking the kerbing

Yes, please let us know what the outcome is. I've got my Tekna booked in for Alloy Gator fitting at a wheel specialists next Monday. I'm erring on the side of going ahead as I've read a lot about the costs of having any kerbing damage repaired. My last car had some serious alloy damage and I'm aiming to drive the QQ with a lot more care (that's definitely tempting fate!)I also suppose I'm being a bit selfish as I don't intend to keep this QQ more than 3-4 years at the most and will leave them on when I sell, so hoping that any edge damage caused by fitting will be hidden under the 'gator'. Hope everything gets sorted to your satisfaction.

Here! Here!, been saying this for a while, virtually all the moaners who are "off to see the dealer" never post their findings. Makes you wonder if they are made up in the first place....Although this one is genuine, we AlloyGaytor people could do with an answer

I was waiting for, hopefully, some feedback but went ahead and had them fitted this morning. While I was at the garage a guy brought a VW Golf in with one of the 'Gators' very badly scuffed and partially unseated from the rim of the wheel. My first thought was "Oh, oh...and I'm having THOSE fitted?"Turns out he was bringing it in to have a new one fitted, the car had been 'curbed' at about 20mph by his son and incredibly the 'Gator' was what had taken all the damage...no marks on the alloy! He may have been exaggerating about the speed but seeing the result was enough to convince me that they are money well spent in comparison to the cost of a wheel repair.
