Absolutely no point to this video, other than to show there are idiots out there that think it is safe to drive one handed at almost 140mph whilst manually filming what he is doing. Sorry, but the bloke should be locked up.

Ian, I also looked at this video last week and you are IMHO quite correct in your comments. I also thought about posting it but then thought why ! at those speeds out here on the Autobahns you need your wits about you as a dot in the distance is soon up your A_ _ _ - Dave

Gel, your comment of "Perfectly legal over there" just ain't strictly true the impression that there are no Speed Limits is just not correct !Please take a look at the comments A. & B. and you will see there is a Recommended Limit or Advisory Limits of 130km/h and if you are caught you are really in for it as they use unidentified cars a lot with video cameras - Dave

A.The Autobahn :The German Autobahn has taken on an almost
legendary mystique. The reality is a little different than the legend. The myth
of no speed limits is countered by the fact that Tempolimits are a fact of life on most of Germany's highways,
and traffic jams are common.

Signs suggesting a recommended speed limit of 130 km/h (80 mph) are
posted along most autobahns, while urban sections and a few dangerous stretches
sometimes have posted speed limits as "low" as 100 km/h (62 mph). The fact is
that Germany's autobahn system is an extensive network of limited-access
freeways that can usually provide a driver with a speedy route from city to
city. B. Speed limits :Despite the widespread belief of complete freedom from speed Limits some speed regulations can be found on the Autobahns. Many sections do
indeed have permanent or dynamic speed limits ranging from 80 to 130 km/h (50-80 mph), particularly those with dangerous
curves, in urban areas, near major interchanges, or with unusually constant
heavy traffic. In construction zones, the limit may be as low as 60 km/h (37 mph). Also, some
sections now feature night time and wet-weather speed restrictions, and trucks
are always regulated. That said, about
two-thirds of the Autobahn network has no permanent speed limit, although there is
always an advisory limit of 130 km/h (81 mph). This
recommendation is generally seen for what it is an attempt by the government
to cover itself without having to upset millions of Porsche and BMW
owners/voters. However, if you exceed the advisory limit and are involved
in an accident, you could be held responsible for some of the damages even if
you are not at fault.Vehicles that are limited to a
lower speed limit will usually have a decal resembling a speed limit sign
displayed on the back of a vehicle indicating the speed it is authorized to
travel depending on its specific characteristics. In some cases, those
vehicles may be authorized to travel slower or faster than the general limit
and will display the appropriate decal indicating such.

Over 3,200 km of Autobahn now
feature dynamic speed limits which are adjusted to respond to traffic, weather,
and road conditions. These speed limits and conditions are indicated
using a rather elaborate system of electronic signs.

I think its best I lock this thread before things get a little out of hand!I echo the above comments, although the speed is legal on that road, the one hand on the steering wheel whilst holding a camera/phone isn't and nor should it be replicated at *ANY* speed. It is a massive distraction, and you loose a certain amount of ability to react in the event that you need to take immediate action to avoid an incident. At high speed you need gentle input into the steering, something which is difficult with one hand. My advise, if you want to record yourself at any speed, ensure you have some sort of hands free kit, and although yes its legal to do high speed runs on an autobahn, my suggestion to anybody wanting to try high speed driving find themselves a suitable racetrack. Plenty of them around and don't cost a huge amount of money in most cases (especially 1/4 mile drag strips on RWYB days....). Racetracks are purpose built and have suitable fire crews and medical teams posted around the track to attend to you immediately in the event that you run out of talent!
