I read up on this problem in Autobild at the weekend but could not find any ref. or comments on EU Models. All I found was comments from Canada & Australia on the Rogue & X-Trail. Hopefully these Struts are a different design to our UK QQ models - Dave :o

Nissan Canada is recalling 46,492 Rogue crossovers from the 2014-2016 model years due to a problem with the rear liftgate. In some cases, the anti-corrosion treatment of the rear liftgate stay’s outer tube may be insufficient. Over time, the outer tube may corrode and break off, which could increase the risk of injury.

Nissan Australia has announced a safety recall of 28,162 examples of its new X-TRAIL to replace potentially rusty gas struts that may prevent the rear tailgate from opening. The recall involves all versions of the current-model (T32) mid-size SUV built between January 2014 and January 2016, except for those fitted with a powered tailgate. During the same period, Nissan sold 30,535 X-TRAILs, meaning that almost all versions of the latest model, which was launched here in April 2014, are affected.
Apparently the paint coating applied during the supplier’s manufacturing process of the Back Door Gas Stay does not comply with the design requirement for anti-corrosion. It is possible the outer tube of the Gas Stay may corrode and crack resulting in the loss of the pressurised gas inside the Gas Stay this would then be unable to support the opening of the Back Door.
