Hi all. I have a 2014 1.5DCI Qashqai (J11). Owned since new.
Just looking through the last couple of service bills I notice that the oil used by the dealer is "Bulk Magnatec". I didn't think that Castrol made an oil suitable for this engine? Have I been driving on the wrong oil for the last 40K miles?
Thanks

Is this an official dealership as they should only be using oil specified in handbook, otherwise your Guarantee may be at risk?
My 2014 1.5dci manual shows no Castrol. They need to refill with correct oil.
Note that no alternatives are listed.

Dealer still needs challenging re performance characteristics & maybe enquirer raises issue with Nissan HO.
Unsure if 'Edge' is a low ash oil as required for Nissan vehicles with a dpf.
Obviously they'll have a bulk lubes deal with Castrol and it'll be costing them far less than the
Recommended Nissan type, but is it "Specification - Synthetic 5W30 ACEA:C4 - API:SM/CF " compliant?
<Not with the C4 requirement it appears >

I'd never want to give Nissan an excuse not to honour the Guarantee, especially as we all know
dpf repairs can be VERY expensive

Yup. Two different Nissan main dealers in Kent. Receipts for both services show "Bulk Magnatec".
The specs you posted clearly say ACEA C4 Low SAPS. I can't even find a Castrol Edge product that meets this specification, let alone a Magnatec! hence the reason for posting.
Can someone else with a DCI engine let me know what oil was put on the receipt? Then I will have something to go back the dealers with.

"That meets the ACEA C4 specification so Halfords are probably correct. Its telling that the Halfords website looks to be more accurate then my two local Nissan dealers. "
That's NISSAN for you shite after sales service! Still waiting for the dealers call to ask if my car is OK. Bought a TEKNA brand new almost 12 months ago.
When I went in to ask about the first service they didn't even know I had 3 years free.
MINI are a galaxy in front of this shower. Hopefully will have no problems when the service is done.
