Hello,
Im a new qashqai owner. I just bought this car recently (5K miles - immaculate condition for 18,500 pounds).
I chose the qashqai because I travel long distances for business and needed a family car that was efficient on fuel. I had previously a 1.5dCi Acenta.
From London to Manchester - I managed to get 60.1 mpg.
Is that good or bad? I can basically do Manchester to London (return) on half a tank.
How does that compare with everyone else?
Thanks,
Hobs
Nissan Qashqai 1.5 dCi Tekna Fuel Consumption (2016 Model)
Lots of variables come into play. Driving style, ambient external temperature, if the roads are wet or dry etc.
Im currently averaging around 40-50mpg on short town runs, 50-60mpg on short but traffic free runs and longer mixed driving journeys, and 60-70mpg on purely long motorway runs. I have achieved almost 90mpg on a 40 mile motorway run but tgat was with everything going for me. Dry, sunny, no wind, very warm, no holdups and sticking rigidly to 58-60mph.
Around town, if you stick to 30mph, then it is better to stay in 3rd gear rather than change up to 4th. The car will pull ok in 4th but the fuel economy will be lower. Its counterintuitive really, higher revs using less fuel, but it does make a difference.

Hello,
That's brilliant advice about the urban driving on 3rd gear. Thank you!
Yes, i'm always hitting the 90mpg almost 80% of the time whilst doing 66 mph on long stretches of road. Its thanks to these high mpg ratings that my average fuel consumption ends in in the high 50's and low 60's range.
Cheers

19" wheels as I have, also tend to cause reduced consumption allied to higher CO2 number; mine is a 2014, so am just under the 100g/km threshold. Believe later models, with 19" tyres, now show 103g/km, versus my 99..
Mine's a Euro5b engine; later models may well comply to later standard, which may well have worse MPG.
Remember using cruise control can help maintain better / steady mpg, and especially useful when in stretch of roads with SPECS speed cameras.

60 is really good. I'm currently averaging 57.9 and I do a lot of motorway driving and use cruise control. I've found using 3rd gear around town is much more economical than 4th and allows you to use the engine to slow the car down and saving fuel. I also use the eco stop/start.
GVMDADDY what is the rev limited???
Thanks

Aaah, thought I'd missed something.
I've been caught out with the speed limiter. I was driving in a 30, activated it then I joined a dual carriageway, joined the traffic, floored the accelerator and nothing happened!!
Be warned!!

Simon1100, go out in your car now and try it again. If you put your foot down firmly it overrides the speed limiter and kicks on. The speed limiter comes back into play when you reduce your speed to below what is set then gently climb back to its original setting. Go try it now!
