Headlight deflectors?

Hiya. Help! I have a qashqai ntec+ year, 2012. Im driving to france soon, do i need to use headlight deflectors?

Yes if your driving a car designed to travel on the left hand side of the road(uk).

Ive never understood why they call them 'deflectors' because thats not what they do. They should be called restrictors or blockers.
