Nissan is pleased to introduce the stylish new ‘Black Edition’ to the Qashqai line-up. A new flagship specification for the range, the Black Edition is the first Special Version of Qashqai available since the model was launched in 2013. Offered in a limited production run, the Black Edition is on sale now and priced from £27,310 OTR.

Based on the generously equipped Tekna grade, Black Edition enhancements include 19” Black Ibiscus alloy wheels, Pearl Black metallic paint, front and rear styling plates and ‘Black Edition’ badged door entry guards.

The model also gains the sleek Panoramic Roof with one-touch shade, making it the only Qashqai with a glass roof as standard – typically a £400 option on Tekna models.

Nissan’s suite of advanced safety and driver assist systems – collectively known as Nissan Safety Shield – are included on the car as standard. These include Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Moving Object Detection and Driver Attention Alert.

Additional specification includes full black leather upholstery, Intelligent Park Assist, bi-LED headlights and the state-of-the-art NissanConnect infotainment system. Based around an integrated seven-inch high-resolution touch-screen, it includes DAB digital radio and satellite navigation. Nissan’s pioneering 360º Around View Monitor – to help with low-speed manoeuvres – is also fitted as standard.

The Qashqai Black Edition is powered by the frugal yet refined dCi 110 6-speed manual 2WD, which delivers 70.6mpg combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions of just 103g/km.

Kieran McMenamin, Section Manager for Qashqai at Nissan Motors GB Ltd., commented; “Top-grade Tekna versions represent around one in three Qashqai purchases and recent reveals like the Qashqai Premium Concept identify a desire and demand for Qashqai to extend towards the higher end of the segment. As a new flagship for the range, the Black Edition is the definitive statement for Qashqai – luxury styling and generous specification but maintaining an accessible price point. In fact, at just £450 more than the equivalent Tekna, the model represents around £1200 in savings compared with individual Option prices on Tekna models.”

I don't really understand what the difference is between the Tekna and this black edition, other than some people will see 'limited edition' and go bonkers over it.

Only thing I can see are some small styling tweaks and a hiked up price!

Steve, got to agree with your comment this Spec does appear to be very similiar to the Original Tekna with a few extras which we appear to have added anyway except the color is Pearlescent White.
paplane, it does appear as it is called "Black Edition" and Rod mentioned it is in "Pearl Metallic Black" that Black is the only option at present - Dave ;)

All seems to be a pretty pointless exercise to me. If you want a "proper" Special Edition then make it stand out - just different wheels is not enough. And why base it solely on the 1.5 manual 2WD version?

This is allegedly a picture of the new sill plates:

... but check out the colour of the seats.

"The Nissan Qashqai Black Edition sets a new standard for sophisticated design in the crossover segment, with a range of styling enhancements to elevate it further into the premium sector."

It's amazing what some people say - "a new standard"! - really!

"Two exterior paint colours are available – Pearlescent Black metallic for a striking all-black look, or Pearl White for a stand-out contrast."

So two colours not one? And I wonder how much different pearlescent black is from metallic black?

"The Qashqai Black Edition is available with two efficient and refined diesel engines from the Nissan range – the 1.5-litre dCi 110 and the 1.6-litre dCi 130. Customers also have a choice of transmissions; the six-speed manual is available with either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, while the X-Tronic automatic transmission is front-wheel drive only."

This article seems to be saying different things to the other articles.

"Production of the Qashqai Black Edition will be limited to 3,360 units across Europe, to ensure exclusivity"

At last - mention of the numbers involved.

What they really need to do is create the QQ R with the >300bhp engine they said they were going to make (but please. mate it with a decent 4x4 drive train with decent diff's and suspension rather than just a scrabble wagon with an open diff!)

Cant see any advantage over my 64 plate Tekna. Main highlight was the emmissions 103kg ???? ill stick to my 99kg white.
Just thought I wonder if they have improved the CONDENSER and how long will that last. :o :o :o :o :o

In what situations have you found the QQ AWD system lacking, bearing in mind it's not designed to be a "proper" off-roader like a Land Rover?
