Right so was a issue before you took it in.. They couldn't find anything physically wrong but did a sensor reset anyway and it has cured your problem?
What tyres do you have on your car mate.? I'm dreading mine going in and them saying nothing is wrong

When I went to ATS (through Blackcircles) they put Avon ZX's onto the front to replace the original Continentals, I didnt check where they placed them but on the drive home immedetly noticed the tracking was off etc. Had to go back and tell them to place the new tyres on the back and theyre the original ones on the rears. My problem was also ? when I left the battery on red overnight and as the car was up against a wall I couldnt get the electric handbrake to jump start it. Did try a manual unlock but after that a few days before tyres might have done something to the steering. Really not sure. One thing about ATS wont go there again. Going to be a Local independant. At ATS the car was up in the sky with all wheels hanging, prefer wen a trolley jack is used. I'll use the dealer I used yesterday as they knew how to do a steering reset, From the repair manual it states a reset after wheel alignment.

Ok i wonder if this relates to my J10 in anyway...

Ok in a nutshell i just can't see a popular car like this having to have the original type tyres fitted ONLY otherwise it will suffer the out of line steering etc like the problems we are having !!!!! It would be all over the internet with people having this issue, and i can't see that the reason why it isnt is because 99.9% of owners have had original spec tyres fitted just won't be happening.
It MUST be a mechanical issue, ok i get a quality tyre will always be the recommendation but i have NEVER paid over £100 for a tyre in all my life of owning cars and all has been perfect. And they have been higher spec and performance then the QQ!!!
Not only that tyre reviews for most of whats been mentioned on here fall way short of a tyre that cost around 3 quarters of the price, just does not make any sense.

Thing is i want this sorted be it 2 x new tyres ok i will consider it but i am not replacing perfectly good tyres for the issue to still be there.
Sorry rant over just feel that Nisaan or their dealers either rarely come across this ( Which i dont think is correct) or they simply haven't got a clue!!!!

I'd check alignment and steering reset if the j10 is an electrical system. After having a hunter alignment printout and I know its 'only a qashqai' but there are quite a few specialist alignment specialist out there, generally those who set up race cars, someone whos reccomended online who can at least look at the set up. Even a quality bodyshp can give it a full alignment. After that it could be tyres.

Yes mate defo electrical steering system , i have had 2 x Hunter wheel alignments now from the Nissan dealer , first said very MINOR adjustment, then made no difference, so took it back 2nd said out minor amount AGAIN even though was only corrected a week before???? So adjusted it APPARENTLY again , and is out to the right the same as before to the left....

BUT what the dealer forgot to tell me was they had swapped wheels back to front!!!!!  i just don't think they know what they are doing if they just reset the steering sensor it will at least put my mind a rest...I just don't know really, i live fairly rural and have to travel to city so its not ideal....

Am well into the use of my third full set of tyres for my J11 QQ (69k odd miles) and never had any issues with steering wheel alignment on any set of tyres (1 x OEM set of Conti's and 2 x full sets of Kumho Ecsta Le Sport)

Very interesting to know....Must be a mechanical or electronic issue , like said if this was the norm would be a lot of people on forums posting their problems.

I've got a theory.

What if the wheels are knocked off straight-ahead, or whatever position it was parked in, whilst both wheels are off the floor and ignition off? Perhaps the sensor doesn't know that the wheels aren't exactly where they were before, which throws it out?

Dunno - glad it's going in September, shouldn't need another set before then, apart from bringing the Avon's to the front probably mid summer

So it seems there is a final phase to the having the alignment done on a Hunter machine and that is known as CodeLink http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/esp-problems/ I'm pretty certain this wasn't done when mine were re-aligned.

Can't beat a YouTube Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K91Ty7rKKts
